STEP

STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data) is an international standard, known also as ISO 10303, providing an independent (from any particular commercial system) mechanism to describe product data required at different stages of a product lifecycle. Files in STEP format store information on geometric model of a product and are used to exchange data between various CAD systems. Data are described in a special language - EXPRESS.
