MCAD
Acronym for Mechanical CAD Computer-aided design and engineering of mechanical devices. MCAD-systems differ from other CAD by the areas of their applications, including:
- Automotive industry
- Aerospace industry
- Production of consumer goods
- Machine-Building
- Shipbuilding
Typical functionalities of MCAD-systems include design of parts and assemblies (mechanisms) using parametric design based on features, and technologies of 2D and 3D modeling. 3D models and their 2D drawings, designed with MCAD-systems, are used in the systems of computer-aided process planning (CAPP), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), rapid prototyping and visualization.
